Premiere and Vegas

I have this question in response to a posting re: Academic. I should have known better as it can easily be missed out. For this reason, I am starting a new topic.
My question pertains to having Premiere and Vegas in the same PC. Are there conflicts or crashes experienced by users having both NLE. I am holding off loading Vegas until I receive feedbacks as I have Premier projects that I still need. I rather be over cautious than be sorry later.

Re: Premiere and Vegas

A lot of people do it, but you really shouldn't have more than one NLE installed on the same computer.

I do know that Premiere and Vegas will fight over a few files, and Vegas will generally lose.

Re: Premiere and Vegas

There is always the possibility of conflicts among programs.

Once, I had an issue where I installed Premier Pro on a system that Vegas was already installed on. Premier replaced some dll file and Vegas would not run. I replaced the file with the Vegas one, and all was good (Premier worked fine too).

On the flipside, I have had Vegas, Premier, Avid, plus a few others, all installed on the same system without a single issue to speak of.

It can be kinda hit and miss, but the program conflicts probably won't ever reach a point where it can't be fixed. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Re: Premiere and Vegas

I have Premiere pro and vegas on the same machine, and it has been running great. I had Ppro before vegas so I don't know about the ddl file problem, but both are as steady as can be.
