Premier to After Effects workflow

Hey all,
I am pretty new to After Effects and Premier, and I need to add some VFX to a clip I've been editing in Premier, but I cannot seem to import it to AE correctly. Everytime I import from the project, it tells me that the media is offline in AE. I have tried importing from Premier, re-cutting the raw footage and doing it that way, but nothing seems to be working. Some guidance, please?

BTW I'm making a fire effect for a hand, and it is giving me a lot of headache.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to import your Premiere project into AfterEffects and perform your work there. Render a sequence of images, TGA's, and reimport those into Premiere.

but in short, highlight the clips you want to add effects to and right click. An option of "replace with after effects composition" will be there. choose that. AE will now launch and the clip or clips will be imported. then whatever effects you add tin AE with be updated in Premiere. The video link will show you better though.

Another great feature is, you can highlight the clips in premier, copy them and paste into a comp in AE.
