Predators b roll

Why in dslr forum? I think it should be in cinematography or film discussion forum.
Anyway those guns sound so different than i thought they sound in real life, kinda disappointing,or maybe those are not real guns thats why they sound like fireworks.

The gun sound you hear in movies is manufactured in post and is designed more for the "oomph" factor than realism.

they are still shooting blanks, and keep in mind, the BST i believe was shot on a dslr, the shallow DOF makes it a high possibility. The way weapons fire is captured on a conventional microphone will sound different in real life. To be honest, real life gunfire sounds different than hollywood gun fire. It's a lot more painful when you aren't wearing earplugs :)

I highly doubt that behind the scenes was shot on DSLR,footage looks completely different than DSLR even if it have shallow DOF.But if it was then im very impressed by the look of it,doesnt look so "milky" like most dslr stuff.

I only watched a few minutes of the BTS footage. It was obviously shot using a servo zoom lens, like what almost all conventional video camcorders use. There are motorized-zoom focal length changes frequently throughout the BTS video, and for the most part the video stays in focus (parfocal) throughout the zooms. There are likely _extremely_ few DSLR cams configured with a parfocal servo-zoom lens.

I don't think there's anything unusual about the relative narrowness of the DOF in the BTS footage I watched. Any 2/3", 1/2" or even 1/3" traditional camcorder can produce similar results using typical zoom lenses zoomed-in and/or at wide open apertures.

My guess is the BTS footage was shot with a Sony EX1/R or EX3, but there are dozens of conventional video camcorders that could produce similar results.
