Preacher Man - a short comedy

Hi guys, I'm hoping to get some feedback on a short film I shot last week called "Preacher Man". It's a comedy about a rich chick who takes home a thief thinking he's a minister. We shot on an HVX and used a few lenses, primarily the on board and a 35mm.

I suggest watching the High Quality version. The HD version is still uploading. Any feedback is much appreciated!

Wow, can't believe no one's commented on this yet. I loved it! It was strangely funny, yet funny strange in a weird way...

The actors worked very well for this weird slew of strangeness.

I gotta say I love the style. Not sure if you were inspired by something else, but the oddity and sexiness of it all is refreshingly original for me. It's very well done and written. Great lines that were performed very well by both of your actors. "there it is again, sounds like jingle bells!" "That's a stupid song!"

And love the song at the end.

For something you just shot last week it is phenomenal! Both Actors delivered convincing performances, and the dialog is well done.

all in all one that I will remember for a long time both for acting and superb quality.

Excellent production value.

Thank you for the comments guys, they are much appreciated.

I wrote it in a few days, shot it in two, and edited in three (four including sound), so it was probably a week and a half total. I had a blast!

What about that song at the end? What's the story behind it?

If you can do this in a week I'd love to see what you could do with more time. So no planning prior to this week at all? Where did you get your actors?

The actress is Kyle Lardner (or Kai Elle). She's an accomplished singer, and this is one of the songs off her next album. It wasn't originally in the script. I met her on a Monday and we shot that Wednesday. Early Wednesday I felt the energy was lacking all around so I asked her to play a song of hers to pump herself and all of us up, and that's the song she played. It was a revelation, and I thought it'd work perfectly for the montage.

There was minimal planning. I storyboarded on Tuesday before the shoot. Hired the DP that day too. I mean, things worked out pretty well, and it was easy to film.

I play the thief. Didn't want to, but the original actor dropped the day before. Argh!

Hah, well you do a good job as a thief. Very good stuff especially considering all of the problems and the short time. Do you have any other films you've done online?

How did you come up with the story for preacher man?

EDIT: Whoops, should have looked at your main page, duh! Just it has only one. :(

Yeah saw Love of the dame.

Love the comedy editing reel though. That's great stuff. I can see the same style of comedy and timing as in preacher man. Good stuff!
