PQ vs MQ tapes

I tried a search for these but ended up with non related threads.
I've been using MQ Tapes in My DVX100A with great results .
My dealer was out of stock on MQ tapes and all he had was PQ .
I decided to wait until the order came in with MQ tapes.
What is the difference between these 2 tapes?
Thanks

I switched to PQ tapes when I couldn't get MQs anymore. I haven't looked back. They're great!

Thanks guys
Like marjamar I've always used Mq But if PQ Tapes are equal and cheaper then I'll try some .

i had the same situation where MQ's were'nt available and i subbed them with PQ's and i've had no probs.i've been told as long as the name brand use is consistent it should'nt case any problems with your camera.

MQ tapes are designed for (like SilverWolf said) if you shoot multiple times over your tape.
I'm using PQ's as well, no problems what so ever. I use my tapes only once, so I never bothered spending more on the tapes to use MQ's.

MQ tapes are said to have better shelf life...that can be important if you archive your tapes and intend to recapture later (say, if a client comes back and asks to have their wedding video from 2006 uprezzed to HD and put on a Blu-ray disc). Tape wears out with time (also with exposure to sun, air, light, etc). The MQ series is supposed to be more resistant to these aging factors.

How much of a difference there is between the MQ and the PQ in this regard, well, it's probably not waaaay too much, but then the difference in price isn't all that much either.

PQ all the way and who cares if you record over them a bunch of times? For a film or job I use fresh tapes, for everything else I reuse them. To this day I have only had 2 dropped frames over the last 6 or 7 years.
