GH2 Powering the GH2

Question concerning running the GH2 off of external batteries... I'm currently using Panasonic internal batteries, but I'm needing some more juice for longer shoots. I was wondering if any of ya'll had experience powering the GH2 off of 9v batteries, like this one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-5V...94606?pt=Battery_Chargers&hash=item4162f36d2e

Is it possible to run 9v power through Panasonic's DC coupler without hurting the camera? Would I need to step down the 9v or 12v to use a battery like this?

Thanks in advance!

Cool, I have been using 11v 3 cell lipo RC batteries and a 9v voltage controller for longer record times. Works well with gh2 or gh1

That's basically what I'm looking at - saw it on Cheesycam a few days ago... I'm liking the concept, but still a bit nervous about running 9v in... if it works safely, I'd be thrilled... cheap (ish) and lots of power behind that - perfect for full days of docu shooting...

Anybody had problems using 9v on the GH2?

No problems here. I would be careful hooking up a unregulated lipo to a GH2 but if there is some sort of regulator holding the battery output to 9v you are good to go. I have seen one problem over at personal view where someone was using a 8.4 that maybe wired it backwords or with batteries even though they are marked 11v when charged they go up to 12.6v for lipo so unregulated you could be running a lot more voltage than you want.

I use this little controller http://www.hobbypartz.com/88e-9v-2-5a-ubec.html with 11v 3 cell lipos. you just have to make sure that your positives and negatives are hooked up right. You can test with a voltmeter.

That is a 14v battery I don't use them anymore and bought 11v ones. Stepping down from 14v created a bit of heat at the regulator from 11v it runs cool.

I bought the $20 AC adapter off Amazon. Used it last weekend for a shoot. Worked flawlessly, and it has the battery/cable module that would make it easy to patch in a battery.
