Powering SD302

I searched around Google and these forums but didn't see this mentioned anywhere, so... I noticed that the SD302 has a 5-18v hirose connector for external power, and the HPX370 has a 12v hirose output, does this mean the mixer can be powered directly from the camera if I get a cable to connect the two? They both seem to be in the same voltage range.

yes you could if you really wanted to but why?
It's going to increase the drain on your camera battery and now you're locked into keeping it right near the camera.

What kind of camera batteries? If they are small enough to be manageable I think the better route would be to use a 2nd camera battery
just for the 302.

If you're talking about using a power supply with the camera, yes it will work. Just seems very limiting.

I'm easily getting about 16 hours with 3 AA Energizer lithium batteries powering 1 mic on the SD302.

Why? Well, I just figured it'd nice to know if I could connect it without seeing smoke in the case it wasn't meant to be used like that. Battery drain isn't going to be as much of a problem once I switch to using a larger battery than my Dionic 90.
And keeping the mixer near the camera isn't limiting to me either, because I keep it strapped to the camera anyway. If I did have some reason to move it away (such as if I were to record to an external device, and/or have a sound person working with me) then the spare Dionic may just work for that.

Use the right tools for the job.
