Powering by p-tap

As an update, I love the GH2, however, how is everyone changing batteries without removing your tripod plate? I wouldn't mind changing batteries, but this really slows things down.

Will the dcc8 and the xp-dslr-p work together to power the gh2 off of p-tap?

They mention the dcc3, which I assume is for the gh1, but no mention of the gh2.

Thanks!

Clyde - sadly, the GH2's DC coupler, the DMW-DCC8 ($24.85 at Unique Photo), takes 8.4V, not the 9.2V supplied by the Switronix. Please see my blog entry on "No-solder battery solutions for the GH2" for another possible approach.

With the DCC8, the coupler sticks out of the side of the camera, so you can swap external battery packs without removing the camera from the tripod.

That's a shame. I got a response from Switronix that says they are working on a solution, but don't have a release date yet.

Thanks for the tip on the DCC8, I'll be needing it anyway when a solution comes so I may have to do that for the time being.

Brunerww's idea works great! Tried it out today. You can easily power the GH2 for 3x's the normal shooting length with cheap duracel power packs. Plus they make nice little counter weights for a shoulder rig.
