So I have a few of the largest NPF batteries and a need for power. I want to use these batteries to power both my camera monitor and my camera, a GH5 and a DP6 respectively, using a Power Junkie NPF plate.
Using an iPad for a director's monitor through the Panasonic Image app has worked very well but it's a strain on my batteries because I can't turn the camera off to save the battery--every time you shut the camera down you have to recconect the app to the camera, which takes 30-60 agonizing seconds.
I've also been powering my SmallHD DP6 with LP6 canon batteries since I had a lot of those lying around, but keeping track of two battery systems is a pain and there's no way to know when the LP6s will run out. I'd also like to make the monitor lighter by not having those batteries on the back of it.
I got a DC splitter cable to accomplish this since both the GH5 dummy battery and the DP6 use a DC power port.
Am I going to mess anything up doing things this way? What is a better way to do this, using the resources available? Ordered all this kit last night.
If I have to I'll just keep powering the monitor with the LP6 batts but losing the weight would be great.
