Power Supply to Mics

Nonsense

Does anyone know how to supply "Phantom" power to a shotgun Microphone? Rather, is there a way so that I dont need to supply the mic with double a batteries and rather let the camera battery power the mic?

Thanks!!!!

Assuming by the forum this is posted in you've got a FX-1 and you've discovered the FX-1 doesn't have xlr's or phantom power. The bad news is there's no reasonable way to suck phantom power from the camera. The good news is -
(a) there are several mic's which have option for a internal battery. This sucks if you're hanging it on the end of a boom pole where every gram quickly counts.
(b) There are several R&G style mixers which provide phantom power. Beachtek even makes one specifically designed to hang on the bottom of a fx - fair preamps and overpriced. If you're at all serious about sound you're gonna want a mixer - sound design mixpre or 302 - are the recommended starting point. (c). Quickie cheapo solution is a battery box. There are several around. I use a AKG B18 I picked up used for $50 for those times when it's just not worth dragging out the cart.

Peruse the audio forum here for an amazing graduate course in sound - these guys are amazing. I was lucky enough to discover them before getting to "invested" in audio gear and they've saved me a bundle!

Best wishes
