Hello

I am looking for extra power for my AF-101, but also a possibility to power not only camcorder but also monitor or external recorder or els......
Recently i came across that product - Lanparte power and hdmi splitter , all in 1 box! plus instead of spending dollars to buy weights in order to balance rigs, a big battery like v mount battery can do the thing!

seems like a great idea and great product! but i i have a few questions
1. I wonder if any one already used it?
2. Do u guys know any other similar products from other brands? maybe with or with out hdmi splitter?
3. How many Volts do i need to power my AF-101? Can i use that particular product to power my AF-101?
4. is it safe to use products like that to power the camcorders?

regards

What's an "intellectual IC chip?" The circuit description makes it sound like a bad thing, but I generally like my equipment to be as smart as possible. :-)

Well, in that thread, someone already mention about using this product. Answered your question #1 (Page 4,post #31, you might want to contact that user, Postmaster)
and, also in that thread, Page 3, answered your question #2 (Post #28)
Question #3, Af-100 is 7.2Volt
Question #4, you might want to contact, Postmaster. He is using one, so he knows what is the limit of the product. (I think he is using it for his FS-100)

There is another user(olof) on the forum made gold mount battery plate to power af-100, it is definitely safe and a great product.

Hope you find this post more useful this time.

Hey guys! i have 1 more question regarding that power splitter....... i just find out from the seller that 7.2V is not really 7.2V and its like 8.0V and actually the images above are indicate it as well i just did not notice it before!
he also told something like - the standard pany battery u use now is also around 8V when fully charged! i am not sure if its trusted info... but my self i have no any idea about anything related to electricity!

so my question is if i ll send these extra volts and my Pany Will receive 8.0V instead of 7.2V will it brings any harm? is it safe? is it bad at all?

also i am going to use that originally cord with fake battery on 1 end that was in the box when i bought my camcorder (can some one give the exact name of it?) - as i understand it is just a connecter, there is no any kind of power splitter inside that box.... right?

regards

G'day anatusa,

I deal with the Lanparte stuff so if you want I can send you some more information on the battery.
I'm out and about at the moment, but when I get home I'll update you with the proper information.

You need to be careful because some of these sellers (especially those operating from Hong Kong) aren't up to scratch and will tell you something different each time you ask them and especially when you're dealing with voltages, you want to be sure they're telling you the right stuff.

However, I can tell you that there won't be a problem powering your rig as I use this one myself with my C5D and monitor.

The package comes with the fake battery that you were talking about, as well as all the cords you need to connect it, so don't worry about needing any extra parts.

Like I said, I'll get some more info for you in a couple of hours

hey! yes plz post info u have...... about the sellers maybe its true , but the thing is that all the info i posted here i got from Jerry Peng - as i understand he works for manufacture, also all the images that u see on top pf my post - he sent it to me.

Also i ve been told by Jerry that they dont supply "Fake battery" cords for AF100, - the one that was supplied with my AF100 has probably the different hole size and maybe will not fit in to 7.2v hole on lanparte unit.
its something similar to what i have (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PANASON...&otn=3&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=6343156955940235028)

so i probably will need some connecters in order to fit into that 7.2V hole, i tried to measure it and looks like the size of my connector is 4.5mm (more then 4mm and less then 5mm)

anyway , my major concern is getting 8V instead of 7.2V, - if u will look at the images on top - the image called STABLE OUTPUT - you will see that 7.2V hole gives in reality 7.97V - images provided by Jerry Peng.
i only hope it will not burn my camcorder......

also i see that the unit also has a D tap option as well, and its maybe a dump question, but i ve seen guys power several accessories with the d tap, but what i dont understand is - how it can power different voltage units? as i understand it only outputs a certain amount of V.....

Sorry to take so long to get back to you - the project I was working on turned into an all-nighter!

Anyway, Jerry does work for Lanparte - he's a top guy and he does know his stuff, but I'll back up his data with my own.

My mistake! You are correct - the AF100 battery doesn't come with that pinch kit.
I was in a rush and it slipped my mind!
That one that you linked on eBay is the one that you'll need to pick up separately.

When it comes to the differences in voltage, in reality our devices experience fluctuations in voltage every day and are built to withstand that.
What the test is showing is that the unit has a very low variation in voltage.
The 8V part showing a variation up to about 12v shows that it can support up to this voltage if necessary (as a lot of cameras take 12v inputs).

Using this will not damage your camera at all for three reasons:
1.) The variation is small
2.) Modern devices are built to withstand huge changes. When we talk about a device outputting 12v that really means the AVERAGE is 12v. This could be slightly higher or lower etc.
3.) The pinch is designed with safety features which will disable the mount if there is a short etc. rather than damaging your camera.

Again, this is the nature of electricity, not the design. Badly designed batteries will give you large variations which could damage your camera. The Lanparte ones won't.

With regards to you receiving 8v output from the 7.2, again, you don't need to worry.
When fully charged, batteries have a maximum voltage (which is usually around the point that they're rated for - a 12v battery has more or less 12v, but may have up to 14, depending on the design).
In this case, Jerry is correct that the Panasonic likely has closer to 8v when fully charged.
As you use it, this voltage will drop gradually between 8 and 7.2, before it gets to around the last 10-30%, where it will slowly lower down 6v and eventually to a point where it no longer charges the camera.
So obviously your camera is able to handle a normal battery which has fluctuations from around 9v all the way down to 6v without a problem, so that's why I'm confident (and I use this with my Canon 5D Mark II with no problems!) you will be fine.

If you're still not confident, then check out the thread that Tvdie posted and read through the middle pages where the guys are talking about testing it out with the AF100.

I hope that helped to answer all your questions!

Edit #2:

Here's the user manual that I typed up for the battery kit which explains in detail how it all works:

VBP-01 User Manual:
Specifications:
· Multi voltage output supporting: 5v, 7.2v, 12v and 15v.
· Internal HDMI splitter capable of dividing a single HDMI stream into two outputs.
· Mounting plate for attaching and charging a V-Mount battery.
· Can be used as a complete indoor power supply solution.
· Tabs for attaching to 15mm Rail System.

Outputs:
· 5v – for a signal switch machine such as an SDI to HDMI converter.
· 7.2v – outputs directly to power DSLR.
o Note: the original DSLR battery contains 2 cells with a combined voltage of 8.4v and thus, our 7.2v output is capable of supplying 8.4v for both charging and maintaining the battery.
· 12v – for the monitor (and other 12v devices)
· 15v – direct output from the V-Mount Battery. This ensures that the VBP-01 correctly handles the voltage as the battery charges and discharges.
Important Notes:
· The switch on the side controls the HDMI splitter. On will split the input, off will pass the signal through.
· Please insert the HDMI cable into the HDMI IN port before connecting the monitors to the HDMI OUT port.
· Never pull out the HDMI cable whilst the VBP-01 is operating as this may cause a spike which can damage your attached equipment.
Operation (only applies to Lanparte V-Mount Battery)
· Plug the supplied adapter into the charging interface to begin charging the attached V-Mount battery.
· Press the button on the battery to check the power level.
Power supply solution:
· If you would like to supply power without using a V-Mount Battery, you may attach the charging adapter directly into the charging interface and attach your devices as per usual. This will then supply power to the devices through the pinch.
Mounting Solution:
· The VBP-01 comes complete with a 15mm rail clamp and is easily attached and removed from any standard 15mm rail set.
· The VBP-01 works best in conjunction with the Lanparte Shoulder Pad which may be combined and attached to your rig as a counter-balance weight.
