"power off" screen message after ejecting p2 card?

O.K. I'm having a tough week.
I'm in middle of an interview and happily hot swapping 4 gig p2 cards and dumping them onto a p2 store, when a few times immediately after ejecting the full card and in middle of recording I got a blue screen with the "POWER OFF" prompt flashing on.

Do I have a setting wrong somewhere? This didn't happen all the time. I thought maybe I was careless and somehow partially pushed the other card eject at the same time, but I tried to recreate the scenario by being intentionally careless and it didn't happen again. It happened a few times so I think something must be up.
Thanks,
Philip

The same thing happened to me last friday... This happened a few days after I updated the firmware. After the error and powering off the camera, the time code regenerating from the last card transfer (meaning, it went from 1:11:00:00 back to 1:08:00:00).

Also, I was shooting 1080i / 59.97 (A first). I normally shoot 720P / 24PN.

I am really interested in knowing how I can prevent this in the future!

Thanks,
Steve

I also had upgraded the firmware ust a few days ago. I was shooting 720 24pn. it didn't reset those settings although it did reset my timecode too.

I have been shooting a doc for the last year, sometimes as long as 2.5 hours uniteruppted shooting/transfering at one sitting. No problem with 720P/24PN with x2 4 gig cards. This is a first... Kinda nervous after seeing your post. I too, thought, maybe i accidentally hit the eject button for the other card.

Steve,
Do you still have this problem? I've had it a few more times- just not every time. I wish I knew what's been triggering it.

Hey Psts,

Basically, panchromatic is correct. But I found out something interesting by fiddling around with my HVX (with firmware update) and my day job's HVX (without firmware update). I can't 100% confirm this, but between the two HVX's I have access to, it seems my HVX camera (again, with the firmware upodate) while in the process of switching from one full P2 Card (Slot 1) to the second empty P2 card (Slot 2) [or vice versa], takes 5-8 seconds longer to finish this operation [buffering?], resulting with the orange light blink longer. On your LCD, which ever card is full will be dispayed as "F", but the orange light is still blinking...

This does not take nearly as long with the HVX Camera without the firmware update which takes maybe 2-3 seconds.

In the past, I never really looked at the orange or green lights. I would normally eject the full P2 card when it was "F" on the LCD.

Long story short, never eject a P2 card from the camera while the orange light is blinking (even if it says "F"). Only eject when the green light is blinking.

Wow! I never paid attention to the lights either. I guess that's why it only happened sometimes.
Thanks Steve!
Philip
