power/menu problems

I can't access the menu when the camera is in the P2 mode, and...when I turn the camera on in P2 mode, I can't get it to turn off, even when I toggle to power switch off?

I've followed the instructions turning it on, inserting the P2 card and everything, but still can't access the menu or get it to turn off. Is there some setting you know of that would produce these symptoms?

When the camera is powered on in the tape mode, I can access its menu without problem, and it also turns off just fine in this mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
