Power Converter

Does anyone have plans to build a 7.2v to 12v converter (to use a dvx style battery to power an lcd monitor) or plans to build a 12v battery pack using any other kinds of batteries? As another alternative, would those 12v power outage batteries work just as well?

Probably be easier to use two batterys and regulate the voltage. Pretty heavy though. Maybe a universal battery charger with panny adapter plates would be a good source of mounts for the batteries.

I needed the same thing, I am using a track dolly I made for most of my shots (not the run and gun style) So I bought a $36 motorcycle 12 v battery and a little charger, mounted it to the dolly, and run my monitor off that. With a little cigarette lighter (like a $3 item from kragen). It lasts all day!! It is not practical if you need to be mobile with a tripod or something. But it works fantastic if I am setting up for a long shoot.

Yes, we have such a beast (at least as a prototype). Uses the DVX/HVX battery attached to a plate, and the output is 12.0V, 10W (830mA) max.
