post FX with DVX100 footage

Hello,
Can I do post FX with DVX100 footage?
It will be smoke that needs to be added to a shot of a city skyline.

This footage will be cut together with HD footage from a Varicam.

Any advice?
I heard that that kind of post work is not possible with DVX100-footage...

DVX100 is great for most effects work. Certainly shooting at 24fps progressive makes things easier.

Adding smoke to a shot is a fairly easy comp...I've done it with cheap one chip cams, so I know the DVX is up for the task.
