Is it possible to have both a field monitor and the BM shuttle 2 on a D800? Both say they use HDMI and there is only 1... Is it possible to have both in some way?
So I would hook up the shuttle to the d800 and the field monitor to the shuttle? Anybody has experience with that? I kinda want to know %100 before i buy both.
I have the blackmagic shuttle 2 and the nikon d800. I use the smallhd monitor that I hookup to the output slot. Works great. I also use a splitter that I brought with the smallHD monitor and hookup an additional monitor (you have to have a 5v power source to power the splitter). I also use a Tekkeon rechargeable Lithium Battery (#MP3450i) that I tape to the shuttle (with gaffer tape) to power the shuttle and splitter. (get about 8 hours). I use the Avid DNxhd 422 codec with the quicktime wrapper setting on the blackmagic shuttle. The footage is amazing, much better than the footage captured in-camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/618847-REG/Tekkeon_MP3450I_myPower_ALL_Plus_MP3450i.html
I also recommend you get the lockport HDMI adapter to protect the camera connection, it was absolutely worth the money, I haven't had one bad connection or plug pull out in the few months since I have been using it. http://www.lockcircle.com/lockport_d800/buy/
I use the BlackMagic Shuttle II thru the HDMI port on my D800 HDSLR.
The Shuttle HDMI output then goes to my Camax Monitor.
On the D600 and D7100, you have to cycle the info button to get clean output.
You get to see what you record,
and you can be looking at a stationary monitor while you swivel the camera.
