Possible to blow Mic Input?

Just got my camera back from renting it out for the weekend, went to shoot something, and the Mic 2 XLR input is barely picking anything up. Even when I crank the levels, no improvement. Plug the same mic and XLR cable into Mic 1 and it's fine.

Could the person who rented it out possibly blown the input? Or is there some magical setting he changed to barely pick up audio on Input 2. Thanks for any advice. - Ben

You can check the easy stuff like phantom power and the MIC/LINE switch in the front of the camera. But I'm sure you did that already. The other thing that I would check is the MIC level in the USER Menu. If it's not that then yes, the MIC input can be blown.

Yup, the lion's share of the frantic calls I get, once I rent a DVX to someone, is "no audio on XLR", and it's always the mic/line input. It's just easy to inadvertantly hit that switch too.

also, if you only notice this when you monitor the levels through your headphones, be sure to check the "audio/mon" level on top of your camera.

Your welcome francheezie!

At times we spend so much time working on really hard projects that we just don't stand back and look at the obvious. It happens to the best of us. Don't stress it.
