Possible solution for cheap on-camera monitor...

yeah but not for focusing....at the very least, it would need component input to get best resolution from your camera.
 
There is a thread on here with someone buying a $180 portable dvd player with the same resolution and many people stated that it was super easy to focus with.
 
well, it's all subjective...and throw on a 35mm adapter and focusing gets even more tricky. don't get me wrong, at that price, what do you have to lose? if nothing else, it'll be handy for framing your shots.
