Possible S Log implantation on FS700?

So after reading all the specs and what this camera is capable of and what it will be capable of in the future, I wonder if S Log might be a option via firmware for this cam someday? I hope so, but one can only hope.. What are your thoughts on the FS700 supporting S Log?

Don't know if this is even possible with the hardware.
But even if it would be possible, I doubt Sony would cannibalize the F3 with that.

But what do I know. After seeing what camera hacking can do......

I wonder if S-Log - notwithstanding the excellent implementation on the F-3 - is seen more of a 10-bit 4:2:2 thing because of the amount of push/pull required to unbend it in post. A little bit of rounding at the top and bottom of the curve is great, but one needs serious colorist skills to make S-Log work well, and I get the impression that the FS series is aimed at the shooter/editor. I'm chuffed to get EX1 style CineGama rather than Z1 style CineTone, but after shooting Marvels and Cinestyle, I find my clients aren't going to pay for the extra time it takes for me to twiddle, or the extra time it takes to render. Horses for courses.

I just finished a show on the C300, Canon seem to have no issues with implementating a log profile in 8bit.

The C300's profile seems so close to Slog that i can use either Clog or Slog LUT's to unfold the images into 709 with reasonable results... not that i use these LUTs for gradeing, but for creating one light dalies they seem interchangeable for pratical purposes.

I would agree that useing flat images means you need a color pass, and that's not the right answer for all projects, but it would be a good step to have the option on offer, right now you need to double the FS's coin to gain entry... be it C300 or F3 or Scarlet

I'm going to wait and see what happens when the BMD camera appears - might force a revision3 for the FS100 software.. there's no reason to think it's limited by 8bit when the implenamtation in the C300 is very, very good.
