Some one may be interested in this:

Just got back my 17-35 and my 28-70 Nikkors (both f2.8) after getting them aperture ring declicked.

I asked my technician if he would take a look at the continuous focus ring mechanism and see if he could "fix" it so that it would have a hard stop , either end.

Cautiously we decided to do it on the 28-70 first and leave the 17-35 as is.

Well guess what. He has achieved it and that lens now has fixed end focus points. He used grub screws I believe and he also said that he can easily "unfix" it if I ever decide to.

Will definitely do the 17-35 as well now.

What are his prices like? I would be REALLY interested in his price to do that to the 24mm f1.4 and a 17 35 if i ever get them.... and I have a friend with the 17 35 who would love that.

That is too cool. Didn't know you could do either of those things, will have to look into that...

Cant be that difficult because to aperture declick my Nikkor 17-35, Nikkor 28-70 and my macro 60 plus focus end limit the 28-70...cost me approx. USD $145 (NZ$ 178).

Kiwi ingenuity maybe... but ask your local lens technician.

BTW. the 17-35 and the 28-70 are very complex lenses mechanically.
