Hey all. Had trouble debating if i should putthis in lighting or here. Meh, well see how this works out.

I have a project for my image 1 class ( love film school ) involving taking 10 portrait photo's from a film camera ( he wants to make slides ). Now I am doing what i can to search around and find some famous photographers, beautiful portraits, libraries and so on, but i wanted to know based on the immense knowledge on these boards, if anyone would want to share some of their knowledge and reply with some great names of artists i should look up. I would appreciate any help i can get! Thank you!

( im off in the clouds today, thanks for that mods! )

I cannot, however, take credit for any of these names. I googled them and only know a handful of names and looked at the work of most all of them. But, why not take a look at all of the work of these established photogs?....

ya, no i defintely have seen a good handful of those, but was just looking to soak up as much as possible in order to get ready for this. After in information received today, i will need to shoot in color and not B&W, which makes things more difficult for me. Which is also why i need to look at as many as possible because the majority of them that i find are B&W. Thanks again!

Could you guys post some of YOUR portrait shots ( not necessarily of you, but your work )

there is a huge amount of talent on these boards and i would love to get inspired by what you ladies and gents have created.

a portrait i took this year for a client:

alrighty, don't rip my ass off for it, but i'm using kodak B&W 400CN film with a 70-300mm zoom. i think i was at 200 here. tried to keep the aperture around 8 (the client was wary that using film wouldn't be 'sharp' enough, so i prvoed em wrong)

one of only like 4 film example i have on my comp right now. I have a nicer stock portrait if you want to see it.

nice. damn i wish we could ues black and white. color is another ball game. one i dont feel ready for.

here is a grab from some video i took today. I set up aback drop and put a few lights in the room incasei get inspired to give something i try.

i might do replicate this when i take my slide stills, what do you guys think?

only post was glow in the hilights as slight darkenning of shadows.

Hey Papa, for a lot of great color Portrait work, check out the Nikon thread to see Alveraz's stuff. Here are a few I shot for a similar assignment, I had to tell a story in 16 frames.
