Portland Wedding Video

Here’s a 60meg(9min) wedding .mov file that I shot over the xmas holiday for a friend. I am by no means a professional video guy but it was a great chance to learn and the first real shoot with my DVX. This was also not a paid event, it’s a gift to the bride and groom who weren’t planning on any video coverage at all.

A few notes, the church was very dark, as they all are, weather outside was rainy, I know rainy in Portland, hard to believe. Oh, and the reception, even darker. Used single camera, standard in camera settings. Adjusted the gain, iris, and white balance when I could.

Looking for any feedback, so fire away, good or bad..........

Hey there,

I really liked the way you edited the video! Well done too..

I'm actually trying to start up a wedding videographer gig here in Pittsburgh and just shot my first wedding in October. Its a lot of fun and you get to eat for free! lol

I thought that even though the church was dark the video looks great.

what do people normally charge for shooting weddings??

Thanks for the positive comment, anyone else, please chime in.

As far as pricing goes here, it seems to start around $750 for one camera and up from there. A friend of mine had his professionally done last summer for 3K, it included two cameras, wireless mic and about six hours of coverage.

Output was six finished DVD’s that included pre-ceremony, ceremony, first dance and reception. A photo montage of stills was also included, but groom had to provide photos.

Hey guys. If your interested my buddy and me have website and there are a bunch of sample wedding videos on there. We do mostly weddings and we stay pretty busy. All the videos were shot with Sony PD170's, BOO!! WE just bought two DVX100B's! Looking forward to this wedding season

That's a great site, in watching some of your footage I liked where guests would make comments, for capturing this do you have shotgun mics or are you just using the built in one.

Great website!! I really excited about getting into shooting wedding myself.. A friend of mine shoots and makes about $2500 a pop for 2 days work and is always busy with jobs... I'm up for a promotion at work and think it would be much cooler to not step up and start working on the film end of my career.. Bad move??

hey Jeff, comparing your work with some "pros" out there, you pretty much got it down. with that said, I telling you, I'm tired of pros who say they are different but
every single company I check out keeps the same formula for their wedding videos. Not to mention, the same cheesy angles, flips, rotations, zoom while "crane"ing up or down. And the awful slowmotions. please. Even as a general audience/client, it's tiring.

no personal offense to EPIC Wedding

Jeff,

I thought the video was great and the couple should love it. As someone else mentioned the editing added a lot to it. The only thing that bothered me a little was the incorrect spelling of Congratulations on the title page toward the end.
