Portfolio Trailer

For my college portfolio I decided to put together a trailer of all of my recent videowork (three extra-short comedy sketches and one 20-minute comedy/mobster movie, some of which I posted on the boards here a while ago). The trailer's been up online for a while, but it just occured to me that I might post it up here for feedback from you guys. As a highschool student, I'm always looking for advice from those more experienced in the field of movie-making. Tell me what you think; what's good, what's bad? All footage was shot with the DVX-100, and edited in Final Cut Pro.

Thanks! Oh, and Merry Christmas, everyone!

Re: Portfolio Trailer

I'm not one of those more experienced film makers but I did see this. The pace needs to be picked up. The last few seconds worked well for me with the fast cuts. The rest seems to have a few shots thst last too long given the subject matter. I think you could have a better reel if you boiled it down to half it's present lenght. Not too shabby overall.

Re: Portfolio Trailer

I agree with Mino in that it is too long. You started off with an exciting edit and then it seemed to go into something completely different.

Parts of it looked like the beginning of a movie instead of a montage of your work. I would suggest that you keep it all at the same pace and make it no more than one minute long (with the footage you already used). The trick is to make people want more, not less.

Pick the most unusual, varied shots for the piece and I think you'll be on the right track.

Re: Portfolio Trailer

You're right, looking back on it's a little lengthy. I guess it's a natural mistake to want to include more of your stuff than is necessary. ^_^ I'll try editing it down a bit. Thanks!
