Portable wireless video transmitter.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a wireless transmitter that is portable so I can transmit a signal from my camera to a projector thats feeding live footage.

Here's the kicker, I need the transmitter on the camera to be battery powered so I don't have to find an outlet and can move around on stage.

Anybody know of something like this? I've been looking but I'm not really sure where to start.

Thanks,
Tyler

Tyler,
Run a search for "transmitter" - it's been discused a few times.

The (sad) truth is that any wireless TX of any quality will be VERY expensive. - especially one that will go in real time suitable for same space projection. If it's a one off event, then look into renting (www.dcam.tv).

I have to ask: what's your budget, and what's the shoot (and conditions, like range, other cams, etc)? You might have to re-consider wireless.

Wow. Mikkro after running a search you seem to be the DVXuser authority on wireless transmitters.

I'm working for a church so budget is obviously low. We just need a camera up on stage to be able to project to the back of the auditorium so a projector feed that displays on a screen at the front.

It doesn't have to be too nice, but it does have to run by batteries so I can stay mobile.

Thanks

We don't like cables on Steadicam...

Well, my first sugestion (contrary to above) woudl be to see if you can find a way to use a cable - even if it involves a spotter.

I presume this is for "IMag" (Image magnification) where you how a 'closeup' of the stage on the screen. This will place a need for real-time video without any lag. So (for now) an analog link. I have used those cheap 2.4Ghz ones they use for home VCR wireless links that you see all over the place, they will give a feed, but you will get continous littlejumping aorund with interfearance.
One that I have yet to get a chacne to try, but looks prety prominsing, is a higher power system called the "Eagle" or it's bigger brother the "Falcon" they seem to be made for industrial use and may work better.

Another option, thoguh I of course don't endorse it, that is used for monitoring in the film biz is to use a TV-band transmitter (basically a small pirate TV station) The FCC officially frowns on this but rarley takes action. One highly recomended unit right now is called the "Canatrans" (look on isara for it). but again the pricetag is a few K. - And you can buy a lot of coax for that!

Good news is that just about all wireless transmitters of all types normally run on 12v, so if they don't come with a bettery system, it's always easy to hook soemthing up.

If you do go wireless, use coax for as much of the run as possible anyway, and only use wireless to bridge the gap that you can't cable.

try super circuits

try super circuits

if you go to supercircuits.com they seel a variety of wireless transmitters at different freq's for all different budgets.
They are mainly a video security and surrveillance company, but that can be a good thing in keeping cost low.
