Portable storage solutions

Hey,

So a friend has asked me if I had any recommendations for portable storage. He's going on a long expedition and wanted to take something from which he can backup his SD and CF cards. I.E. Not an external hard drive, but an all in one unit for his various types of memory cards.

Does anyone have any recommendations I could suggest? Preferably something of 500GB if poss, that takes CF and SD cards.

I know Nexto make some units etc, but it's all so very expensive!

I have the EPSON P-7000 Multimedia Storage Viewer. It takes SD and CF cards.

Mine seems to preview .mov files when it feels like it though. This is more than likely due to my not upgrading my firmware. The unit is great though, and it holds 160GB.

I 2nd the netbook/laptop option. You can spend upwards of $500 on just a portable storage option. Why not spend the same amount on something that can do more than store/view media files?

depends on where do U want to save your card... in the mountains, or during heavy snowing, or a windy cold place the best way is the simpliest. notebooks need more power!

There's adequately powerful notebooks that can last upwards of 5 hours. A great storage solution if you ask me.
