Hi, does anyone know or can point me in the rt direction for a cost effective portable power/battery pack solution for the 500 LED Dimmerable video lights.

Thanks, j.

At the most basic level, a deep cycle rv battery will work well, though the portable part is relative. Bescor probably has the least expensive options for video power. They have a wide variety of types, style, and capacity that are prepackaged with either 4 pin XLR or cig lighter plugs.

Li-Po battery packs work just fine. You can find them in many flavors (7.4, 9, 12, 24v, etc.) and easily around 5000mAh.

Do you have any idea of how long this can run 2 of the LED 500's after a full charge?

Thanks, j.

i'm lucky my 500 LED came with a Sony V mount battery!

V-mounts are great, but the cost of IDX style batteries for each light adds up to a much higher cost than a single DPP-600HD for around $165, which can also be used on set or location to power a number of other things from it's AC outlets, which are not available on a V-mount battery.

David - did you ever get a full test on how long you can power a couple of these 500 light panels for? I seem to recall reading it was something like 3 hours continuous on full brightness but just wanted to check. If this was the case and if turned on/off during takes it could last a full day of powering a couple of lights, especially if used on the lowest brightness settings.

what do those led lights draw. I used one of those power boxes to power a couple of cfl's, 13w and 23w, and had no trouble getting through a day.
