Portable lighting

Any good picks for extremely small lights that don't use much power and easy to carry around for emergencies.
I have an Arri kit and a Lowel kit, about 10 lights in all, but even one is overkill for the sensitivity of these new cameras.
It would only be to light small areas like the interior of a car or portraits.

Look in Cameras and Photo for 600 led light instead of 500, dimmable with necessary battery mount (they have 600H, 600HP for Panasonic batteries and 600HS for Sony ones).
They are all the same, just different sellers.
You could also try 1200 or 900 led made by same company as key light.

Hey, I'm interested myself in a LED light, do you feel the 600 LED can do the job of a key, esp on a 5dmk2 w/ it's good light sensitivity.

Or do you really need to be going for the 1200 LED for that?

We carry a wide array of portable LED lighting systems, but my personal favourite is the LED 512 from flolight- http://www.evsonline.com/microbeam-512-high-powered-led-video-light.html
You can either get the V-Mount battery back version, or the standard one that can be powered by any 4 pin XLR source like a battery pack.

They also make larger ones- http://www.evsonline.com/microbeam-led-1024-high-powered-led-video-light.html
and a great portable hair light that use an array of camera batteries- http://www.evsonline.com/flolight-m...mera-light-with-sony-battery-mount-plate.html

As for the ones on Amazon, they look like the older Flolight models, does any one have any experience with those? If they are identical copies than the LED's had a pretty gnarly green colour to them. Nothing that can't be fixed with a minus green gel though.

Since you're looking for something extremely small, check out the Comer 1800 that has a lot of fans here. I bought one for air travel gigs recently and love it for its size, versatility, output and the fact that it runs full out for 3 hrs on a $39 battery. My only complaint is that the dimmer only goes down to about 10% which actually seemed a bit too bright for close work when I had it on my camera once. If you get one, the $17 light stand mount is highly recommended. You can find them on eBay or at lacoloronline.com

I suggest you to read this two articles:

And understand, that generally all small leds are more or less similar.
With green spike :-)
Minus green filter can be either implemented by slightly painting LEDs (in very costly panels) or by external filter.

CoolLights are cool if you absolutely need support and have extra money.

600, 900 or 1200 leds from ebay are better solutons otherwise.

I've read it but I don't take for granted that all leds are more or less similar. What I like about Richard is he takes the time to inform you about what you are getting.
If you want to buy cheaper then it's a risk you take upon yourself.

Years ago I read a great post by a guy named Oleg on this forum. He said "We ain't rich enough to be cheap". Best words I've ever read.
There's a certain level of cheapness which ends up costing you more money. Even if its just in resale value.

edit:
here's a great example of how not all led's are the same. see the posts towards the end

I have two of these LED 1000 for quite a while since I fell in love with LitePanels (but they seem to be too expensive for me at the moment). This is a video that will pretty much tell you what is the Advantage it has compared to all its competitor and I seriously think you should consider this LED. It is made from China but what the heck, everything is made from China nowadays and I have never been cheated so far (except that damn NP-F970 battery that I bought 3 months ago and thanks to eBay I got refunded 50% of the total cost).

Do let me know if you are interested with this product ok.

The only think that I am a bit annoyed with LED is that the Barn Doors are not really useful as it give strobe-effect. Anyone knows how to avoid this while using the Barn Doors?

*Let me know if you can view the video ok. I am not really sure how to link the video here...
