portable jib anyone?

Anyone knows a wast resource about jibs namely portable jibs to support DSLRs. I know there is a TON of those so i'm looking for a nice resource that compares a lot and is not afraid to name their favorite... Anyone?

Check out CheesyCam for a bunch of cheap jib reviews. I just bought the Carbon Fiber Mini Jib from ebay for about $270. It's nice and small, weighs about 4 pounds packed in the included bag and has decent reach supporting a DSLR or small camera. There are better options of course, but but for something that cheap, it's not too bad.

I think you need to first work out what you need

Camera mass? Axes of movement?

Simply I will use my NEXn or a go pro with a portable jib - ditch a big camera for those shots

I now want two jibs!

One that can do my built FS100 and my Miller arrow head .. this will be very heavy to counter balance

And a second jib that can do a go pro and is small..

Good advice. The Aviator (which I own) is a fantastic jib for a lightweight camera when you need to pack light and setup quick. But nothing beats a jib with more mass and reach when weight and setup time aren't issues.

Both seem awfully flimsy.

Are there in-between alternatives kind of like:

Well, you said "portable" - these are about as portable as jibs get. You specified "for DSLRs", and the general feedback from users seems to be that they are OK for small light cams. But I do agree with you, I wish these were more sturdy. Unfortunately pretty much everyone seems to agree that for this class of ultra-portable jibs, these two are about the best out there at this time. If you compromise a bit on just how portable you want the jib to be, your options will expand considerably.

It would help if you could find/rent these two somewhere and test them to see if they would work for you.

Otherwise these are your options.
