Interesting thing
Can be found under PV-500EVO name
Records 720p60 to SD card via HDMI input. Battery (you can connect other, much larger batteries produced by same company!), etc.
I don't know bitrate for 1280x720 yet.
Of course, this is hardly usable for filming in current state (but perfectly usable in your car, this is very popular now).
As I understand, they use encoder chip from cheap DV cameras.
But this is very early bird of our future.
I mean SDHC based portable recorder with HDMI in, 120Mbps 4:2:2 H264 and $200 price.
As generally, only encoder chip must be changed. And very dump H264 encoder can be used.
May be even MJPEG at 160Mbps (quite real for Sandisk).
Produced by Lawmate, Taiwan based company.
Same guys produce HDD based recorders.
I'll try to talk to them.
As may be it'll be simple to make bitrate high (considering that original PV500 uses ARM and special DSP).
