i used one the other day, got curious, worked well, besides the fact that it doesn't show High Definition, but seeing as how you're using a DVX100b, should work just fine.

i hav a question...it may seem retarded but..yah.

1.When monitoring u guys have some extremely long s video or composite cables cuz its attached to the camera correct? I ask cuz i'm used to short svideo or composite (red yellow white cables) and i've never seen like really long ass ones. Forgive the noobiness of the question.

2.Also how do they monitor stuff like action scenes that require a moving camera...remote monitors?

edit :aight its ok i answered my own question. did some searches on B and H. Some really long cables man.

How about the 2nd question though?

well it depends what kind of action scenes, they make a lot of equipment that can attach many items, dollies, steadycams, cranes etc...

I use another filmmakers portable DVD player with my DVX100b. It is VERY helpful and I'm planning on using it again this Summer.

yeh well i know steadycams and dollies and such can hav monitors on, but i really meant director monitoring. how do the directors monitors stuff, when all that action, which requires the camera to not be tethered to wires because of the movement . Remote monitors?

A couple adapters and a 100 ft BNC will get you 100 + feet. Any more then that and you will start to get severe signal loss without a signal amp.
