..and the last one is the photogrpaher's last.

Seriously a cool set of photos. Did you take those, or find them somewhere? (where?)

Dude, theres got to be a story here. This took place over at least two days. Who took the pics? How did the bear get into the net?, crawl, fell, tranquilized?.
Is the guy who took the last pic still breathing?
Obviously this bear is a young one--bet it never climbs a bridge again.
Great Pics!

Fantastic post! Great pics, and good for the bear, the poor cuddly thing ().

I agree that we need more details.

Wow that is really cool...the one where he's just hanging makes me feel so bad - how did he even get up there?!

"Officials decided nothing could be done after they first spotted the bear that Saturday afternoon. But they decided to take action when they returned the next morning and found it sleeping on the ledge."

WTF? what did they do? See the bear and say "well, that guys a gonner...."

sheesh.

A Beary Good Story

:) :)

The bear was crossing the bridge when two cars came and frightened him over the edge.

I just want to know what made the cameraman think he should wait for the bear on the ground. Did he want to give the animal a big bear hug when he got down safe? lol

Okay... you asked for it.

Bear Update: Career change for Bongo.

(From Reuters, Oct 2007):

"Bongo the Bear found himself in quite a pickle after his career change from riding a tricycle in the circus to staring in Bearly Legal Bungee Jumping videos which feature the naked bear baring all for this extreme sport.

Apparently Bongo was part of a guerrilla video shoot reportedly organized by Double Dare Dave... sources say.

"Bongo was sick of that tricycle... and we could tell that he had bigger dreams by the way he looked at the stretched out honey between his paws... so we figured he was trying to tell us that he wanted to star in a bungee jumping video," Double Dare said.

Witnesses say Double Dare secured the harness on Bongo and released him, at which point Bongo immediately mauled Double like an angry bear. In the frenzy Bongo lost his balance and fell over the edge.

Captain Murphy, of the Lake Tahoe Police Department said, "When we heard the outcome of Double Dare's latest video shoot, we were all too happy to come to the rescue of Bongo. He's been pushing that bear off tall structures all over town and as best we could tell, Bongo didn't like it."

Fortunately local authorities were able to bring Bongo down safely and set him free in the Sierra Wilderness. Double Dare Dave is still at large, evading federal charges of adding protected animals to the endangered species list.
