"Poodle Girl"

Hi Everyone,
I've always enjoyed looking at everyone else's clips. Here's a 5 minute film I made with my daughter and her dog. It was a finalist in the Brisbane Fast Film Festival held last week. Each film had to be under 5 minutes duration and feature a secret ingredient. This years special ingredient was the physical action of a DIVE!

Here it is: www.flashtoonz.com/PoodleGirl_lo.wmv

It's an 8 Meg Windows Media File. Shot on a PAL DVX-100a in Squeeze mode. A little colour correction on the beach scenes. Apart from that I used one Lowel Tota light on the interiors. Hope you enjoy it :)
Cheers

That was great! I loved it! The editing was on the money and the story kept my interest. The music was perfect! The only problem I had (and it's minor)was the sound. Good work!

i love the way the music builds up and then poof, something negative happens. Great use of peaks and valleys in emotion.

Very well done, I loved the shot of her on the beach when shes sad about the poodle and we see the sky and the ocean and the hill that shes on... cool stuff

It would have really benefitted from some real lighting tho IMO, even just some reflectors or something to make characters sort of pop out from the background

This movie was excellent, it was clever with style. Love the british accent girl, the movie kept me interest. One question which scene file was it recorded in

This put a nice smile on my face this morning. One of the best shorts i have ever seen submitted in this site; technically a bit rudimentary (not at all a negative comment) but the story really holds your attention from the beginning to the end.

Content really is king.

Well done.

Nice work!

I used to have a Staffy too. Nice dogs, unless you happen to be another dog.

I thought the film showed really good storytelling technique. You can and should just work on your technical skills so that problems don't distract from the story. Having said that, I thought the stuff on the beach looked great. A few other shots seemed a little bit "home movie" and unplanned but it wasn't a major gripe.

Excellent !! Daughters are the same all over ..Hahaha . just happens my daughters Golden retriever is named lucky. Well done.

Bravo - That's a great little short. The story, the directing, shots, all are done well. I commend you for creating a short with animals. They can be so difficult. Worse than some actors! :cheesy:

Only a few shots, mostly interior, that didn't maintain the quality of the rest. The sound quality wasn't an issue for me. But the level is a little low.

Overall, great job!

Well done, very funny to watch, the story was well built but like some others comments, from technical skills point of view, some work has to be done.

Very nice work! Great light on your exteriors--you really had a nice tonal range on the beach. Nice directing. Great window light on interiors. Great night interiors! Nice lighting overall! Great job!

Loved it. That short kept me entertained and it was definatlely a cute story to tell. This is the kind of shorts I prefer honestly, the ones that are reliant on story more than trying to imitate big films with graphics and all these complex things. Thanks for sharing that, it was nice to watch. Great work.

That was an incredible short. Like John said, that was one of the best stories I have seen on this site. It had a very "simple" feel to it yet the story and acting really grabbed my attention. Two thumbs up!

i'll give you the best compliment i think you can give on this site, and that's that, while i was watching it, i forgot (and no longer cared) what it was shot on. i just wanted to see what happened.

Hey
I agree, I wasnt even watching for technical stuff because I liked the video so much. Keep up the good work. At the end I was expecting the brown dog to attack the girl on the beach.

I also totally agree(i know i m the 3rd one)...at last a film that doesn t make your think about the camera that is use, the lighting, or what the &?()*&ing technical aspect is good or bad(even though i m always criticizing about those stuff...). Really, really nicely done. And yes,..the CC on the beach was perfect.
