I am going to sail on salt water so I don't take anything with me that can corrode.

Which camera you take on vacation?:

- don't take vacations
- I take all my gear, you never know what happens, my clients keep calling me
- I do not take any recording device, it is vacation
- my phone

what does holiday mean?

Kidding aside. Either RX100 or a6300 with 16/50. I do no videos in my holiday only pictures for souvenir. Kids, wife, dog, landscape, street scenes. I don't take time for photos from family time. So no extra way, no extra stay or wait for a scene.

Vacation means not working, thus not shooting or editing to me anyway...

I do sometimes bring a 5D just to shoot stills, usually with only two lenses 24-70 and 100-400 both Canon Ls. As I see still photography as fun.

Maybe once I retire I may start bringing video cams on trips, but for now it is very restful to watch others shoot video, and just walk by.

Funnily enough, I've just got back from my hols. Took my 5D3 on what will be its last vacation trip before heading to eBay. Can't imagine taking anything remotely work related - it's a holiday!!

My first holiday since 2012. I'm doing Route 66 next month for 20 days so plan to fully document this! Not taking the FS7 but will take RX100 mk4, Nikon D800 with 50, 17-35 and 80-200.

As far as i'm concerned my job is also my hobby, can't do holidays where you just sit on a beach all day and do naff all. Got to be seeing new things and as such I can't go anywhere without a camera.

Very topical! Heading to SoCal in a couple of days. Just picked up a Canon 16-35 IS/4.0 this afternoon, to go with an A7ii, plus 24-105 and 100-400.

Unfortunately, I'm a long way from my next vacation, but when I do get away, it's generally to go diving, so it's a D800 in a Nauticam underwater housing.

VERY keen to move down to a much smaller, much lighter, mirrorless system though. One of the A7 series most likely (I think they have the best ergonomics of any of the mirrorless systems at the moment).

I went on a whaling tour last week, so I took my Sony EX1 an Atomos Samurai. Put a sheet of plastic over it. It did fine.

Canon 5D II before. Now its Sony a7S with just an allround lens.

I want family photos. I dont shoot video while on vacation. I usually say: Its not my hobby, its my profession to make film. While photos is a non-paid hobby :-)

FS7, AX100, 6D, tripod and fluid head, 24mm tilt-shift lens, 24-105mm f/2.8, 16-35mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4. Always bring CPL for wide angle lenses and my Lenskirt for shooting through hotel windows.

I took my entire Cineslider Electradrive with Oracle controller a couple times, but it's a real pain to haul around so I rarely fly with it anymore.

I shoot a 35mm film camera for vacations. That way it limits my photo taking and I sow rate myself from the editing. I find it very freeing while also still capturing the important moments and locations.
