That's it right there, help me pick my opening titles for my short.
Feel free to vote, and add any other comments or ideas you may have. Thanks!

Sorry man, I'm voting for "a new idea." Unless the rest of the video looks like an older video game (which it may), the titling sequence need to change, IMO. What kind of feel does this short have? Grungy? Clean? Edgy? New? Old?

In all honesty, I would have enjoyed the word "Addict" in Arial font just appearing with a low "bang" or rumble even.

What program did you use to make these?

Basically, the short is about this junkie trying to get high. And he goes through all this BS until finally, he get his fix. Only, it's not drugs. It's video games. This isn't revealed until the end.

I've got a few more idea up my sleeve, so if the first round isn't really doing it, more to come.

Here are two more ideas. Hawk must have been reading my mind, because that's pretty much what I was trying to go for.

Any other ideas, new ideas? Improvements to old ones?

To be honest, I like both of those a lot more than the original 4. I vote for the smoke one, but it needs a little more smoke I'm thinking. What about the word Addict in black text on a black background with the smoke between the layers. You'll need more smoke, though. Simple? Yes. Effective? We'll see.

Another smokey one

What kind of addict? (Drama, comedy?) Kind of funny, I was talking to someone the other day about opening credits. I'm not a pro or anything but really without knowing anything about the story or style of the short it would be impossible to give a genuine opinion, don't you think?

I mean, here you have text over a blank background. There is nothing artistic about this.

Normally I think you would want something that sais something about your story.
Without knowing that, I can't see the titles meaning anything. Other than random coolness.

I did like the first smokey text in post #6. Still it's text over a null background.
The #8 post doesn't work imo. Text is too black.

I don't know. Can you ask someone else to handle this?

i like this one since it conveys a sense of edginess (to get the next 'fix'). also, i think it more accurately foreshadows the video-game essence of the story. the smoky ones are kind of a 'cheap', for lack of a better word, distraction that doesn't embody the end 'twist'.

If your going to use that one then add some video grain and do some shrink matting on the text to soften up the edges. And add a background and try not for it to look like a stock photoshop text job over an otherwise decent video background. GOD, I HATE THAT. Did I yell that loud enough? I hope so. :)

the first smokey one is nice. and the only one that doesnt scream "im a hobbyist with a new effects package"

though without knowing more about the film, cant say whether or not it makes sense in context
