Political Ad Contest.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

What's interesting is that Move On.org was founded on the idea that the bashing of Bill Clinton should stop, that it wasn't good for the country, hence the name Move On. Now they are going full tilt to bash G. Bush. Perhaps they should Move On. I doubt it, hypocrites don't get it.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Funny thing is, I just wanted to start listing links that show filmaking contests. Could be horror, political, hell even Coca Cola. And it turned into this!

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Don't worry about it. It's all in good fun! ;D And if some people can't get it, it's too bad for them. Since when is it illegal to make fun of our leaders? We do it constantly here in Canada, so why should the US be different? Because of possible terrorist implications? I don't think so. It's actually very healthy to do so; its a statement of disapprouval by the people (democracy at it's best), and it keeps them on their toes instead of on their laurels.

In other words John, ignore the ignorants, and continue to post filmmaking contents of all kind (within reason). Free speech... remember? Or has that been abolished lately?

Re: Political Ad Contest.

The voice of reason, Flintstone. Well said.

As a token of my appreciation, I've ordered an extra large poutine just for you. Tell Jacques on Rue Ste. Catherine that Monk sent you.

First, I find your comments in very poor taste. Michael Moore, regardless of whether you agree with him or not, is a human being. To question his gender (menstruating) is an affront not only to him, but also to women. Menstruation may not be something you personally approve of - it is not meant for your approval or disapproval - it is part of a natural cycle.

Second, your inference that he has no talent flies in the face of his accomplishments (whether you agree with his point of view or not). Bowling For Columbine is an Academy Award Winning Film. To attain that level, regardless of its content, is a tribute to his documentary style filmmaking. His latest book, Dude, Where's My Country? (again, regardless of whether you agree with it or not) is on the #1 Bestseller List of the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Barnes and Noble.

Third, your name-calling Michael Moore a "butt monkey" is reminiscent of racist-style propaganda. Using dehumanizing terms, making people appear to be less than human, and therefore (supposedly), less worthy of respect is, regrettably, a style used by a dictator who stirred up the masses as a prelude to World War II.

An ad hominem is, sadly, used to support a position of argument whereby a personal attack is used to weaken another person's point of view. Unfortunately, you have not challenged Michael Moore's opinions - you have merely lowered yourself to a base level of degrading insults, and, in the process of doing so, have lowered your personal integrity.

It's not the caffeine talking - it's me talking.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

And I'm definitely not impressed by the message you sent me:
Fine.

Then let me make this real clear.....

I don't give a **** what you have to say. You don't make a personal attack like that in public again or we're going to have a real big ****ing problem.

Do you get that?
Re: Political Ad Contest.

I am part of this forum, and if what you say is true about respecting it, you wouldn't have sent that message.

A threat is a threat. You've crossed a line here, and I'll leave it to those who can deal with your threats to take the appropriate actions.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Lol.. Play nice kids.

I knew by the Subject line this one was gonna get messy,

But I don't give a **** what you guys tell each other in this forum, just as long as you eventually work it out.

I never have locked a thread and don't plan on doing it anytime soon.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

If it was a heartfelt apology, I'd accept - menstrating or not. Did you get my card?

Re: Political Ad Contest.

I swear I will never post another POLITICAL AD contest again. Although I agree with the madness that is cow, Moore is a no talent...

Oh nevermind.

:D

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Seriously, (future King Hudson), I want to understand what you consider talent, and where Michael Moore (the man, of course - as I know of no monkey named Michael Moore - but if there were a monkey with an identical name, I'd differentiate for sure) fails you in the talent arena.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Oh for crying out loud. You like controversy, huh?

I'm not really into the kind of films the monkey that is moore makes. Although I found 'Roger and Me' to be funny, I just do not like that type of filmaking. I haven't seen 'Bowling' in it's entirety and I am a huge supporter of the right to bare arms anyway, perhaps my opinion is somewhat skewed because of this?

Just a matter of opinion really. Do I like the docs on Discovery and CNN? Hell yes. But overall, I can't bring myself to put the doc in a high talent or art category. It's like a really detailed news segment to me.

What do I consider talent? The list is endless, if you can be specific as to what exactly you want to know, I'll be happy to share with you who I think has talent.

You mentioned Mike Moore being an academy award winning filmaker, er documentary maker. True to that. True that. But there have been tons of films (and makers) that have won the golden monkey (think The English Patient, Chariots of Fire and who was that dude who won who was really freakin excited? Beautiful Life? Is that it?). One might be stoked that those films and directors won, but I wasn't.

It comes down to opinions.

You know, opinions are like (insert your own) everybody has one; unless you're hanging with the monk that doesn't like to be called shrunk, and one must jusitfy their opinion.

The fact that the Madness of Cowages stated what he stated doesn't validate any of the banter that has filled this forum today. I would wager he was kidding in a DUDE kind of way, you know "That dude is a f**". Doesn't literally mean anything, it's just a way to say "they suck".

And as far as the monkey thing goes, everyones a monkey to me (especially my lil' 3 and half year old son).

And as far as your rebuttal on Menstruation: I am just speechless really.

Re: Political Ad Contest.

Speechless? You? HaHA That's a first :D

Thanks for the ramblings, John. When I hear someone say so and so has no talent, it covers a broad range for me - including, but not limited to acting ability, technical ability, concept, execution.

Perhaps the biggest issue here is that Michael Moore hits a raw nerve. No doubt it depends on which side of the political fence you're on. Interesting tho, that MM has been and still is a card-carrying member of the NRA.

Personal taste is just that - personal - everyone has their own.
