PNY class 10 verses Tanscend class 10

PNY recently released their own class 10 cards but unfortunately they only go up to 16GB and I just ordered 2 of them on B&H.

Have anybody done some tests between them. I know these PNY cards are still fairly brand new so it's unlikely but you never know if somebody already tested them.

For a non hacked GH1, their have been a few occasions in which the Transcend class 6 card would stop writing especially when I shooting a crowd of people but I've had better luck with a PNY class 4 ironically. For a hacked GH1, I need to be much more careful and you can understand why I felt safer getting a class 10 from PNY over Transcend.

I do know how awkward I sound for buying the PNY cards first and then posting.
Sorry that's theirs been other treads on SDHC cards.

When you say that your Transcend Class 6 card would stop writing when shooting a crowd of people, was this a common occurrence (more than a couple of times? Were they "reliably unreliable" in certain kinds of shots?) And is this just one Transcend card that failed or several that you've observed with the same behavior? I ask because I'll be shooting a wedding using a non-hacked GH1 with Transcend Class 6 cards (brand new out of the package, so unvetted by me), that is, unless these cards aren't reliable for the task.

I've thought that perhaps my card is just a bad apple and it does usually happen when I'm shooting a lot of stuff from different directions.

In this particular day, it happened several times. That was also the first time I used that card.

Wow, that's quite a busy scene you were shooting! I'm not sure but I'm guessing that all that contrasty, random high motion - shot handheld no less - would qualify as a codec torture test. If you usually shoot scenes with that kind of energy, then I can see where having a Class 10 card might give you some headroom with the capture rate. As for my wedding, I guess I'll be fine with the Transcends. But I'll run some tests just to be on the safe side.

That have also happened when I'm shooting concerts but to resolve the issue I will pause between every song which is very annoying. I do go back and forth showing the singers and the crowds all handheld as well.

Hopefully in your case you wont have numerous people beating each other up when your shooting the weeding and you may be fine. Now that I think about it, having people beat each other up with pillows would make a great weeding video.

Anyway, I should receive my cards by Tuesday. Before I decide to shoot a concert and let the card run for an hour, I'll probably do a torture test outside moving the camera back and forth with a lot of obstacle courses. Shooting a busy highway would be a good test for the card but I'd rather not get harassed by the police wondering why I'm next to a highway constantly moving the camera left and right. I'll think of other ideas.

Good luck with your tests, hope you figure out how to eliminate that problem 'cuz I know it would drive me insane if it happened to me.

I like the idea of the bridal & groom parties having an all-out pillow war, maybe during the ceremony when the official asks if there are any objections to the union. Hmm, let me see what I can work out. ; }

How is this PNY card working out for you? I got the 16GB professional model that claims 20MB/sec but with the 40mbps reliable hack, I get write errors randomly.
