F3: PMW-F3 + S-Log : a kind of bug !? (Solved !)

Hi there,

Your light is needed.
I've recently adopted a F3 with RGB 444 update and.. noticed a "bug" in output settings.
I can't display any monitor LUT on F3 LCD when I choose 3G YPbPr422 & S-Log option. It's greyed out.
And the screen doesn't even show the distinctive S-Log look.
In fact, there is no difference between 3G 422 S-Log and Video option. Picture profile menu and standard WB remain accessible in both modes for example.
All others modes (1.5G 422 and 3G 444) work very well.
Has someone already noticed it ?

Best regards,

OMG..
What a jerk I am, I had not realized that 3G YPbPr422 & S-Log option only works with 50/60i format.

Ok guys, it's solved.

Make sure that you set your F3 to Video Mode with the S-LOG PP setting. The colors in the S-LOG output mode are much different and much less accurate. If you have time do a side by side. Very noticeable.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your advice.
When I compare Output S-Log vs PP S-Log (with Matrix and everything else OFF), I don't notice any real difference. Except PP's manual WB or sub-800 ISO possibilities.
Did I miss something here ?

ISO500 is nice to have.

Have you tried grading thenfootage? I definitely noticed a difference in green grass even before someone let me know there was a difference. I would do a side by side. You will need to grade the footage to see a difference.

I was shooting two cameras interviews so it was important for what I was doing.

Copy that.
I've only ckecked it from an external monitor, without any rush or grade.
I will test it by following NLE system path.
