The only differentiation between the SxS-1 and SxS Pro Memory card is the reduced number of read/write cycles. In order to keep track of the SxS-1 remaining usage, Sony has equipped the latest PMW-EX1R and PMW-350 camcorders with a “media life indicator” which is shown on the camcorder display.

The prices were are seeing for this SxS-1 seem high compared to the announcement info, there was prices of less than half the cost of SxS Pro going around (something like US$250 for a 32GB). On some sites there is only a price difference of about 12%. Any idea whats happening with these prices? Are they just those high prices sites put up until they get more accurate prices (like how the EX1R initially listed for around $7950).
 
I agree, tell your Sony rep that 94 dollars difference between SXS and SXS1 isn't going to cut it as any kind of savings in my book. Not buying these until they come up with a better price.

My Opinion: I think Sony is skimming the market, testing the waters, and pricing it based on P2's E-Series cards 32GB. Unfortunately Sony's Media department which handles media cards, tape etc. don't work with us Sony Broadcast / Professional Video dealers. They work with media distributors. I'll let them know that customers are expecting a better price on these cards.

We do have a better price than the prices that are found on the web at this time. Contact us for pricing.

I apologize on behalf of E.C. Pro Video on not having our E-commerce site up and running yet. I am also the webmaster of our company too. We are so busy this year, especially this time of the year. Some of our manufacturers can't keep up with our orders.

We don't show pricing because we usually build packages and send price quotes out to our customers. Prices varies based on different packages, returning customers, price quotes that include installations or training.
