Just purchased a PMW-200 last week. For some odd reasons, I couldn't get the FCP 7.0.3 Log & Xfer to directly import XDCAM file like P2. Installed the XDCAM plugin and no luck.
I check FCP 7.0.3 and see nothing on XDCAM codec. But when I use the Sony, non-retail XDCAM browser, it installs to FCP 7 as a plug-in. When I access it from FCP 7.0.3, it's simply an option to launch the Sony XDCAM software. There's not much an advantage here.
I have to use the XDCAM 1.2 to convert the clips to editable .MOV file in Mac. Can't do it natively in FCP 7.0.3. This is not a huge drawback. Just odd that I can do it w/ all P2 media and not XDCAM media.
