Pluraleyes Issues

Used to use this software with no issues but lately it won't sync ANYTHING. Have been trying to use it to sync up some multi-cam stuff from AF100 & 60D w/no dice. Puts ALL my footage into the unsynced timeline every time!

Not a terrible problem, as syncing footage is pretty easy to do manually anyway but I was wondering if anyone else had run into this issue? I've been to the troubleshooting section of the site and can't find anything helpful there. I know how to set it up for difficult syncs and those steps are not working either.

TL;DR Pluraleyes used to work perfectly every time. Now it no longer works at all.

Had this trouble yesterday with a couple of af100 clips, I'll update to the latest (1.12.16) this morning and see if that helps…

Apparently the next release of FCP incorporates the same tech without the need for this plug-in.

****Not starting a discussion about FCP - there are plenty of other places to do that here on the forum.***

I have never had an issue with pluraeyes and this camera with my GH1.3 and my HPX... Synced everything up fine. I am using a older version though and have only tried it a couple times. Worked like every other camera I have used pluraleyes with.

Is this the first time you've used Plural Eyes on AF100 footage? I've used it with 5D's and HPX300's and it worked
fine.

If it's an AF100 specific issue, (and you're using FCP) I'm wondering if the way the audio clips are imported (interleaved stereo) is
causing this issue.

First time with AF100, yes but it started doing this a few weeks ago to all my DSLR footage as well. Absolutely would not let me sync my Zoom w/my 60D no matter what I tried! Annoying.

Are you all having problems using LPCM or AC-3 audio on the AF100? Perhaps the issue is with pluraleyes and the AF100s LPCM audio. I never had an issue with AC-3 audio and the AF100 with pluraleyes... Never tried it with LPCM audio though.

Yes using LPCM, and it's not a problem on every clip...

My first experience with pluraleyes wasn't great. Tried syncing a 5DII, XHA1, AF100, and continuous audio of the event from an H4n. Nothing synced up well, off by a little bit here and there. Meh.

Might give it a try again, but my hopes were dashed.

So far I've used it on multi-cam shoots where they were all the same 'family' of cameras + an external recorder; with mostly positive results.

It's terrible for music video shoots .. the repeating music bed confuses the bejeezus out of it.

I have had it to work with music video shoots quite well... Just run a line to the camera from playback (if you can, or place a mic near the speaker, or crank it up so you get an identifiable recording of the song), and then when you bring it in to the timeline, bring each take in as an individual clip, cut the audio out that is not the music at the beginning and end of the clip if needed, and it will sync it right up. I only find if I have a shitty playback audio recording with alot of stuff louder than the music will it have trouble.

I've been trying to sync up about 2 hours of footage I shot this weekend with pluraleyes. I threw it all on a timeline to sync Saturday night, and it's been running ever since then! It's not frozen, since the analyze bar has been moving (just veeeerrry slowly). Think I should just let it sit since its already been going for 35 hours or so? Anyone have a similar experience? I know now that for the footage we shot on Sunday to just sync up on a scene by scene basis...

Yea .. I break it down into segments to constrain what PluralEyes has to consider. You didn't check the "Try Really Hard" button (I hope)?
That makes it go about 10x slower.

jeff

yea .. don't need that unless PluralEyes is screwing up .. and even then it sometimes doesn't make much of a difference. I
usually resort to giving "hint" markers as a way to work around problems.

I recommended to the PluralEyes guys that they allow you to "fix" one angle/track as the "master" and let the other
tracks align to that. We usually have one camera running continuously and the other cams picking up other shots as
needed. If they did that, things would be a lot better.

Will be interesting to see how well the FCPX feature works (which I hear is going to release tomorrow (6/21)).

I know you're 35 hours into this .. but .. i would stop it .. turn off the "try really hard" .. and then break it down
into sub-sequences and try that. Overall, it will save you time rather than waiting 50 hours and winding up with
crap.
