Which Is better....in my opinion the H4N and since I hate synching I hook a 2 sided aux from the cam to the H4N to synch sound on the spot with my boom mic but it makes it harder for scenes with moving actors due to u and boom guy sharing wires...is it easier to just use a good external DSLR mic and ADR if u have too?

Taking quality out of the equation this my #1 reason to run separate sound. Do you REALLY want another set of wires attached to your camera? Do you REALLY want the audio guy having to come over and fiddle with the camera settings? For me a resounding "no".

On my first film the DP I hired basically said in the interview "I won't take this job unless you run separate sound. I'm not going to have the audio guys cable hooked to the camera and I'm not going to have the audio guy having to come over and touch (with the risk he'll screw up the video settings) the camera.

Never looked back.
