Hi,

I am sure you all know InterBee is being held in Tokyo until 20th this month.

I just saw this picture in the linked page below. (Please scroll down to the middle)

Am I right in seeing Zeiss lens mounted on 5D and recorded with Nano flash?

If so, does that mean uncompressed HDMI out is possible with 5D now?

I am going to visit InterBee this Friday but wanted to know if somebody here can recognize the setup.

Yes I know

Yes I know

Indeed, I own 5D.

My question would be, is this set up for recording uncompressed HDMI signal directly to Nano Flash when it is in recording mode.

Otherwise, it does not make much sense doesn't it? Especially when Zeiss lens is put on to display.

Why wouldn't it make sense? If you're feeding the NanoFlash with HD over HDMI, why would it matter if you're recording in camera? I guess sound, but that can be handled by an external recorder. Am I missing something?

I thought the HDMI only outputs a boxed in 480p signal with all the camera info overlayed? I think magic lantern was getting close to a solution, but don't think it was released yet.

Only in playback mode does it show a 1080p signal (after compression/capture).

Making sure tomorrow

Oh well.

Thanks for the feedbacks.

If I had not known 5D only feeds 1080P in play back mode, I would not have posted the picture in the first place.

My assumption: they somehow figured out how to output live 1080P feeds without showing the little focus box or came up with some kind of firmware modification so it records straight to Nanoflash.

It only makes sense to record on Nanoflash before the data gets compressed.

It would be kind of silly for people to show such setup unless it does what I think.

I will find out tomorrow.

Yea, maybe they have found a way.... the people working on magic lantern are probably not the only people out there that are hacking the 5DII, I guess.
