"Please turn camera off and then on again"

I just finished a video interview with my GH1, and the movie mode worked fine, fortunately.

However, at the end of the interview I switched to the P still mode to get a couple RAW photos, and got the message "Please turn camera off and then on again" every time I tried to press the button. I can't take a photo.

At home I've investigated further, switching lenses and trying other still photo modes. Nothing works, although I am still able to record video.

Has anyone run into this, and have a solution?

Try a different SD card? Or formatting your current one after you transfer your video?

I've done all those things. It's feeling like some sort of corruption of the firmware. The fact that I can still record video is significant, suggests that it's not a card or lens issue but something internal.

Just to add, it's happening to me whenever I try to use the pop-up flash. I think it's some kind of diagnostic that Panasonic has built into their cameras; if something is not working they ask you to essentially reboot the camera.

Bollocks though, the 1 year warranty period JUST passed a month ago...

I have seen that message only once, when trying to update firmware that was transferred to SD card with camera being the card reader/writer. After reformatting the card (in camera) and only using card slot on PC for file transfers I have never seen that message again.

I don't use built in flash often, but that message has not ever come up in my experience. Are there some special settings you use?

Anybody had any luck with this? It just started happening to me. Note that I'm using the GH13 hacked firmware.

Also, my LCD is not working any more either. Any tips?
