I was adding effects and transistions to a couple clips on AP 1.5 and when I went to play them the footage was clunky, distorted, and just a big ole mess. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE tell me that after only adding a couple effects and transistions that I don't have to render the whole thing. I went to render and it was going to take FOREVER!! PLease tell me I'm doing something wrong or not doing something all together.

Help! Thank you!

ouch, sounds like you are in pain. cut down on the effects and render it. I dont have 1.5 but I always render before export.

It's possible you might be doing something wrong. I 've been using p 1.5 since it came out. Can handle many layers of video with effects, transitions, titles etc". If you have a system with a P4, atleast 1gig system ram, win XP SP 1 and a seperate drive for video, you should not have any problem. Also no HDV support in p 1.5 so keep that in mind if you are trying to capture HDV. Maybe if you post your system configuration some one on this board could help you out.

It really depends on the effects you apply. If you're doing anything with Magic Bullet, it can simply kill any responsiveness you may have had editing the timeline. Sometimes there's no replacement for CPU horsepower and memory. Sometimes you just need to render the timeline. Normally, it doesn't take THAT long. If you really can't wait, just kick it off and go do something else. PPro 2.0 seems to me to be better at minimizing the amount of re-rendering that needs to be done as you make changes. For effects like Magic Bullet, you may need to just disable the effect while you're actually editing and then turn it back on prior to export.

usually even complicate effect processing doesn't really affect real time audio playback so i go for runngun's opinion. there's something wrong.
