Okay, I've scoured the always worthless manual and can't
find this answer, so please help, guys.

Does the DVX have a 'standby' switch that lets you
power down without having to turn the cam completely
off and/or possibly lose settings?

(it's called 'standby' on the XL1, 'lock' on the GL1)

...not what I was after.

I want to be able to power down (to save battery) without
having to flip the camera's ON/OFF switch.

(the O/O switch is probably the weakest piece of design
on the camera - it's not at all handy, and it appears to be
one of those parts which could potentially wear out relatively
quick just because of the friction nature of its use)

thanks, shai, but ANYBODY ELSE on the 'power down' issue?

hmm... don't think there's something like this in the DVX..
