nice looking footage. BUT... with the dramatic movie music and all the church shots, it feels and looks like a funeral.
not what you wanna hear, but i believe weddings are supposed to be happy moments, not movie of the week dramatic.
could be wrong though... not everyone's wedding is a happy one... take mine for instance- ;D
For the sweeping and dramatic establishing shots, you really need to use a tripod.
Nice use of the light at magic hour, and you had a good eye for some of the comps.
However, if this is a wedding video, how can the couple not be in any of the shots for the whole intro? The video is about them, not the church that they're getting married in. Establishing shots set the atmosphere and the geography, but they're the seasoning, not the food itself.
I thought the music was fine. I think Neil's concerns could be remedied simply by having shots of the happy couple and the happy crowd.
Remember also that wedding videos are perfect for dramatic effects like slow motion, fades, and dissolves.
Other than that, it's hard to comment much more on such a short piece.
As stated, nice footage... for a documentary on the church. I really like the music, and the comps. As David said though, this is about them, her. The first thing I learned about shooting weddings was that I better focus on the bride, alot!!!! The groom generally could care less, but the bride, whoa.
It was good footage and movement, just plug in some slow mo of the bride and wedding party preparing before the wedding. I use alot of slow mo and B/W in most of my wedding intros. Adds a little elegance.
Thanks gentleman... I actually can't take credit for the music, as I used some off of another wedding intro I saw. I see where you are coming from with the bride not being in any shots. This is actually going to play when the DVD opens, followed by all of the girls of the wedding party getting ready and so on. I shot all this footage two days before the wedding, which is why I had no bride. Thanks.
love your composition, shots and how you managed the zooms. really well done. but I have to say that it doesn't really fit the wedding atmosphere.
especially that music- sounds like you want to create more of an epic film than a wedding video. these things matter, you should consider them when thinking about what the couple wants. what are they like? you could use their personalities to match the mood of the entire thing.
All you really need is the 1st establishing shot of the church (which is nice BTW) then cut into the couple. You show the couple kissing, smiling at one another, holding hands, etc. etc. and your golden. As mentioned earlier, you make the bride happy and you are set...and she wants to see a lot of herself in her beautiful wedding dress.
-I would take your production/film company name out of the video, provided that this video is solely for the bride and groom.
-Just like everyone else has already said, too many shots of the church. Since this appears to be somewhat of a trailer for a wedding video, I would put in some slow mo shots of the bride and groom, at about a ratio of 3 to 1. (Show 3 times as much footage of bride than of groom)
-The music is cool, but in my opinion; wrong application.
