Please poke Sony with a stick....

In light of the Sony PMW-100 and competition from the Pana HPX250 and Canon XF300/5, it makes sense for Sony to upgrade the EX1/3 line to a 50mb/s, 4:2:2 codec. Would someone go over to their stand and aggravate them a little about this, please?

Why not just buy pana or Canon then? I think Barry said this not too long ago, why not buy what's right for your needs instead of brand loyalty? This is what's so great about competition. If someone builds a camera that better suits your needs, buy it!

Actually, I think rosebud is trying to help Sony out. If more people liked Sony's stuff, they wouldn't have to lay off 10,000 people. Better products, then everyone wins -- consumers win, manufacturers win, etc.

This isn't about "brand loyalty," it's about the 1/2" sensors in the EX1R/EX3 and Sony's processing combined with a better codec. Not to mention the smaller footprint of the EX1R than the Pana or Canon.

I would also buy an upgraded EX1R. Good camera that is overdue to be made better. Yes, Sony needs a poke.

EX1r is a gem. We had one for just under a year and the image is lovely and solid.

In fact, I'm imagining any moment a blogging DSRL shooter is going to 'discover' the EX1r and find themselves amazed my its versatility and image quality.

I feel the same way about my NX5U the competition has caught up with better sensors etc. A new sensor in an upgraded NX5 with AVCHD 2.0 60P with 10 bit 422 output for HDMI/SDI, dual record to the cards etc and they would have a winner again. Definitely need application of a sharp pointed thing !!!. Yes the new JVC and Panasonics look good but do lack some things the NX5 still has like three possible recording outputs, FMU, cards and HDMI/SDI multiple programmable buttons etc. Appart from that I have lots of Sony batteries, chargers LANC controllers etc that I would prefer to stay with Sony.

I would jump right onto an EX3r updated. with Sony's new frame rate installments into the FS700, I believe they can and should put atleast 60p at full resolution into an updated version of the EX3, if not higher frame rates.
