someone tell me exactly what setting i need to have the dvx100a in for shooting true 24 frames a second with an anamorphic lense. you know like a check list kind of thing so that i can just look at those things and know im doing it right. because i use final cut pro 5 to edit and im getting jaggy interlace lines every fourth frame in my time line but my capture scratch files are fine. so i need to press forward and shoot so as long as my setting are right on the camera i can start to shoot and worry about the software later.

If you aren't needing to playback in progressive mode on a progressive TV set you could try "F6" 24pa mode captured to a 29.97 timeline.

what if do need to play back progressive. see ive had my cam for over a year or so and never had these jaggie b4 i ussually shoot f6 auto iris manual focus with no gain fstop of 60 to 120 and nd filter off unless its really bright and then i adjust the f stop is there anything im missing?

24PA...edit in a 23.976 timeline. NLE removes pulldown to give you the original 24 frames.

24P...edit in a 29.97 timeline. Use standard DV settings.

ANY progressive footage displayed on an Interlaced TV will show artifacts (jaggies) of varing degrees because of the blended frames (pull down) 24Pn has two blended frames out of five. 24pa has 1 blended frame out of five. Its not the camera, its not the software its the TV.

If you want the option to go both progressive and NTSC output this is the result. A number of items can accentuate the jaggies such has high contrast. This accentuates pixel edges and of course edges running at a 45 deg angle.

BTW it wouldn't matter if you shot 60i and converted to 24p using software (Magic Bullet. DV Film) or shoot 24p in camera. The results would be the same if you play 24p on a NTSC TV.

I am not sure if the Anamorphic adapter accentuates this as a result of the squeezing of the image. To test you could of course shoot the same scene with and without the adapter to see.

Sorry there is no simple solution.
