Please measure your lenses! :-D

Hi,

Just doing some research to help me work out my follow focus, but this applies to every 35mm adapter owner, just wondering if you could help out...

Id like to know the amount of travel your lenses have between infinity and its closest focal point.

For example my FD 50mm 1.4 travels about 200 degrees from infinity to its closest point, however my nasty 'pentavision' FD 70-200 zoom does about 100 degrees.

I have posted a protractor below that can help you.

If you could post your make and model of lens, Fstop and mount etc etc and the degrees travel from one extreme to the other, it would help me a lot. If you could also post if you have any lens gears for it, redrock, indifocus or SG etc etc.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Pete.

No but the angle does matter, I need to know the longest travel on average lenses so I can make sure my focus motor will control them all....

That was in fact a little joke on my part. Heh heh, I said little. Get it ?

Okay, I'll stop threadjacking.

Heh heh, again.

Sorry.

Would you not also need to know the circumference of the lens/gear?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the distance the gear needs to move more important than the angle?

Id like to know the Nikon 80-200 2.8 travel... as it not rated here. Even though its listed.

I need to know the number of degrees the focus ring turns by. Im having problems getting my follow focus motor to turn my lenses all the way. The number of teeth on the lens is 126, the number on the motor is 100 and the motor moves 180 degrees so the lens only moves about 140 degrees so im wondering if this is enough for the average lens or weather i need to work out another way of doing it...
