Please just a simple way to burn a simple dvd?

I have an 8 minute project I cut in FCp 7, it's 60i video from the hvx, EVERYTHING is in default mode. Simple as can be. All I want to do is make a dvd that will loop continuously in a dvd player, and I am baffled by dvd studio pro. I have looked at the manual and online and everything is so OVERLY complicated. I just want to take this timeline and make a dvd, can anyone show me a site that walks you through this, a tutorial that's just like "export as this, drag it here, press this button." done. There is way too much info about things I don't understand on every site I look at. I tried exporting a quicktime movie and importing it to dvd SP and it says it works and burns it but no dvd player can play it. I need to send this out today to the client and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone please help? This should not be so complicated to perform the most basic of functions with this software!
Thank you.

The following steps describe one way to author a disc in DVD Studio Pro without a menu, and without the need for the user to press the Play button. This enables a track to play automatically when the user puts the disc into a DVD player. The key to these steps is to use the First Play function.

Create a new project in DVD Studio Pro and import the assets for your project.
In the Outline tab, select "Menu 1" under Menus.
Press the Delete key to delete "Menu 1".
Drag your video asset(s) from the Assets tab to V1 in the Track tab.
If the audio track does not automatically appear in A1, drag it from the Asset tab to A1 in the Track tab.
Optionally, you might add subtitles, or other track elements at this stage.
In the Outline tab, select the item at the top, "UNTITLED_DISC".
In the Inspector, you should see the properties for the disc. The first item is "Name:". You can name your disc here. The second item is "First Play:". From the First Play pop-up menu, choose Tracks and Stories, then from the submenu choose Track 1 and then [Track].

If you want your disc to loop continuously, follow steps 9 and 10 below. Otherwise, proceed to step 11.

In the Outline tab, select Track 1 under Tracks.
In the Inspector for Track, from the End Jump pop-up menu, choose Tracks and Stories, then from the submenu choose Track 1 and then [Track]. This makes the track play over again when it reaches its end.
Simulate your project to make sure it works as you wish. If you're satisfied, the disc can be built at this point and tested in a DVD Player.

right, but this does not work with a full res quicktime export, what do you export as? There must be some compression, the 8 minute .mov is 6 Gb uncompressed, when I drop just that into the dvd sp as above, it doesn't work or play on dvd players.

Checking in again... it does sound like Toast would be your choice, as you would just drop that file into it and it would do the compression itself.

Does IDVD not do that too?? It might, I don't use it but it might work.

As for dvd studio pro. I'm still working with the original studio pro - so this may not be applicable. For it, you would send your project from the timeline to compressor where you would choose to make a compressed version most likely Dvd: Highest Quality. You could choose to compress all which would include video and dolby acc audio and a separate aiff. Then you'd choose where to save it, then compress.

Once compressed you were left with .m2v files and .acc and .aiff. You would then import these assests into dvd studio pro and build the dvd.

As for building simple dvds using DvD Studio Pro... I've never found it simple. When I was introduced to Toast it was a breath of fresh air. Now whenever I need simple dvds for previews and whatnot, I just export a self contained quicktime of the timeline, then drop it into Toast, click autoplay, name the menu and click burn.

**Edit: Just re-read your dilemma, and didn't notice that you needed to get it out today, which makes buying a new program somewhat moot. I think you might be able to do drag and drop auto play in IDVD. I think you will have to build a dvd using compressed .m2v and .acc audio files in Dvd Studio Pro. In my version of IDVD, I opened a new project, click the MAP button, then drag and drop my quicktime file onto where it says auto play.**
Not sure how to make it continuous play though.

Sounds to me like part of your problem might be that you are burning an HD DVD and trying to play back on a non HD player.
1. Export QuickTime movie
2. Open movie in compressor.
3. Compress with DVD 90 minute best quality settings.
4. Now follow David S. instructions and you should be fine.
Just make sure you're using the SD settings and not the HD settings in compressor or your DVD won't play on a standard DVD player.
Good luck.
